For this new version of Dan’s website I wanted to create a fully responsive website that would work on all tablets and in all browsers. The design is based on a grid system, as you resize the browser the grid evolves to less or more columns depending on how much room there is. When you view the image full-size the navigation hides away leaving as much room as possible for the image.

For Johan’s website design I focused on giving the images as much room as possible, the site always re-sizes to fit the screen. As his photo’s are very dramatic in nature I used a very muted palette of grey and white. I like how the typeface of the logo grows out of the frame for the pictures. The website also uses a basic javascript slideshow to load the images and then swipe them into the frame.

The brief for Dan’s website was to have the images fill the screen, however this prooved to be more complex than I first thought. I had a allow for different screen sizes so I made the images scroll up or down as you move the mouse around the screen. The navigation is overlaid on top of the images and the layout is inspired by image editing software such as Adobe’s Bridge. This website is my first attempt to build a mobile website as well, when viewed on a mobile device the user is re-directed to a much simpler mobile version that still echoes the design cues of it’s bigger brother.

Yvonne still uses traditional film processes for her photography so I took my inspiration from old 120 film for her website design. The trick with her website was to make a nostalgic website that was still very much focused in the present, hence there being an old film negative placed on top of a clean white contemporary space. It took some tricky equations to get the stip to move to the correct space when you clicked on it but I’m very pleased with the end result.

The Rambling Foodie website was my first attempt at a tumblr design. I wanted to create something fun and a little different from your average blog. I find a lot of blogs very annoying as they often go on forever and often the navigation is stuck at the top of a very long column of text, it was a conscious decision to keep the title always visible while the content scrolled within its own frame. I like the punk feel of this design, it feels cool and contemporary, you might say it’s a hipsters blog!
